Taig MicroMill CNC with Stepper Motors and PC Controller. I built this as a project mainly because I wanted to experament with CNC control. Now that I have checked that off the list it is time for this mill and control to move on to someone else who will use it. Metric ball screws 2.5mm pitch. Travel in X axis 12 in. Travel in Y axis 5.5 in. Travel in Z axis 6.0 in. Table dimensions 3 1/2 x 18.4 inches. Maximum Z-distance to table 9.0 in. Z-Axis swivel 90 degrees. Z axis column rotation up to 180 degrees. Spindle head rotation 90 degrees. Spindle has less that. StepperOnline 1.2Nm Stepper Motors with Encoders. CL57T Stepper Driver with Encoder positioning Feedback. Mesa 7I96 Ethernet GPIO Step and Direction generation board. 36V Power supply for stepper driver. 5V Power Supply for Mesa 7I96. 20ft sheilded twised pair cable (not featured in pics but included). Everything inside of LinuxCNC is setup and working relating to the machine control. I did a few engravings; featured in the pictures above is a photo of the machine running the default LinuxCNC lettering routine. As far as getting up and running, everything is plug and play right now. Asus F2A85-M MicroATX motherboard with FM2 Socket. AMD A10-5800K Quad Core 3.8 GHz. Nvidia Quadro K600 Graphics card (helps tons with latency). 500 GB Western Digital Blue SSD. The PC was an old gaming computer that I was not using anymore, hence the overkill amount of RAM. Latency of LinuxCNC on this PC has never gotten over 12,000 while running LinuxCNC machine control and the highest I have ever seen it was 30,000 with 15 GLXGears running and several web browsers going all at once. This system is complete and configured all ready to go for you to use. I packaged it up in full working order and all you need to do is plug everything in and launch LinuxCNC.
