CLAUSING 8520 MILLING MACHINE. The mill is in great shape, The spindle bearings were replaced about 12 years ago with brand new original spec fafnir angular contact bearings, The table is clean with no milling marks but has very small denting in the surface, and the machine has all the original handles, the optional column riser block and the full original belt cover. I’m including a full set of collets (0.125″ to 0.5″ by 1/16ths all usa) a 4in kurt milling vise and a complete Teco hold down set. Some paint is flaking on the castiron foot of the mill but there is no significant rust forming. The mill is 3/4hp single phase 120vac with a furnace reversing switch. The machine has minimal backlash, 0.007 on the X axis and about. 012 on the Y axis. This is a pretty rare machine and i doubt you would find a more complete example, i drove to Vermont to get it when I bought it years ago. Clausing 8530 and 8535 digital read out. This is a bolt on system that is made in USA with the exception of electronics. Some slight modification may be needed depending on condition of your machine. You must have 3/8-16 tapped holes for -x- and -y- axis. I designed and built two of these one has been functioning well for 6 months on my Clausing 8535. The positional tolerance of the scales is. 001 when I compare my dial to the readouts I haven’t seen a variation of more than. 00075 on my machine. The machine itself is in outstanding condition with no noticeable wear. The table and ways are pristine since they were never subject to any form of metalworking, and the wear/damage that would be associated with that type of use. This machine came out of a laboratory environment rather than a machine shop. As far as I’m concerned, the head is probably useless, and the value in this machine would be to mount a Bridgeport or some other smaller vertical type milling head to it. You would then have an almost new, compact and very capable milling machine. I have provided the best pictures that I could to try to show the head and pump. I will do my best to answer any questions on this machine, but again, I admit that I know almost nothing about the head and it’s operation. Ways on all 3 axis are butter smooth, lash is within an acceptable range. Single phase Baldor motor. If you know anything about these machines then you know the brake bands are notorious for breaking. This one is in tact. New bearings on the pulley. The idler pulley needs new bearings and I’m including a new set in the sale.
