This is a used Intelitek Light machines proLight 2000 CNC benchtop mill. Serial 016 19AA 0143. Made in the late 1990′s I believe. As you probably know, this was one of the heaviest, most robust benchtop CNC mills made. Its not a toy like the newer offerings built on a Sherline platform. The machine has a 19.5″ x 6.25″ table in beautiful condition (minor staining) with 12″ x 6.75″ x 9 travels. The motor is a brushless DC Baldor 1HP and spindle speed is up to 5000 rpm. It uses DC servo motors with 1000 line closed loop differential encoders with a maximum feed rate of 150ipm. One of the best things about this machine is that it uses standard R8 tooling, just like a Bridgeport, so collets, endmill holders and many other accessories are readily available. With the exception of very minor scratches and scuffs, the machine and all its hardware components are in excellent condition. The machine was obviously used very little, and the little bit of chips I found were all plastic and aluminum. I don’t think this machine was ever subject to cutting steel, although it is one of the few benchtop mills that are capable of it without working the machine too hard. ============== I acquired this machine several years ago with the intention to update it to modern drives, controls and software. To that end, I carefully gutted (and tagged) the old electronics (included), and researched the servo drives and encoders (documentation included). I got a new Hoffman 20x16x8 enclosure which is intended to replace the cramped original box, and a Boston gear Ratiotrol DC drive for the spindle motor. I installed an aluminum plate in to the Hoffman box for mounting new components and for heat sinking. That’s as far as I got. Unfortunately, I’ve got too many other projects, so I’m not going to be able to complete this one. Obviously the machine doesn’t work right now. This is a blank slate for which you can choose your own power supply, drives (ex-Gecko), controls and software (ex-Mach3). There are now many more options available, and prices for all the necessary components are now much more reasonable than they were just a couple years ago. The machine comes with everything in the pictures, and nothing else. ============== If you are willing to put in the work and supply the new electronics, you will end up with beautiful, capable and valuable benchtop CNC mill with a modern control system. T E R M S. Please check my feedback. (1) Be as accurate as possible in my descripion of an item. I will generally tell you my (subjective) opinion of condition and try not to exaggerate. Please study the pictures as my opinion may not be yours. (2) Tell you the good the bad and the ugly. I may not be completely familiar with an item, and may not find or be aware of all issues. However, I will not knowingly hide any important issue, deficiency or problem. (4) Be communicative and available before, during and after the deal. (1) Understand that this is used equipment. (7) Follow up upon receipt of the tool/machine and inform me that it has arrived. (8) Despite best efforts, occasionally an unforseen issue arises. If there is any issue, allow me the opportunity to work with you to provide a satisfactory resolution. A little communication goes a long way.. Weight is about 410 lb. FOB Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87107 I can and will arrange trucking logistics/paperwork, etc. To you anywhere in the Continental US. East coast and northwest locations are most expensive. We have been getting very good rate quotes from YRC. They load for you. I’ll need your name, city and zip code. ====================== You are invited to pick it up here, or to use your own truckers. NOTE—Several fellows have asked me if this machine could be put back together easily with the old parts. It MUST be updated with new electronics. I don’t remember if ALL the parts are there-most are including the animatics drivers in the silver box. I recall that the spindle motor control seemed to be non functional and I think I threw it out. This IS NOT a one or two day project. The item “Light Machines Intelitek proLight 2000 CNC Benchtop Mill Machining Center” is in sale since Friday, April 29, 2016.
