Up for sale is this 2020 Datron Neo Series 2 high speed CNC milling machine. This machine has been serviced and is ready to use. This machine is optioned from the factory to be run on 240V single phase power. The included vacuum pump is also 240V single phase powered. There are no additional converters or transformers needed for this machine to be run in a residential setting. The Neo is extremely compact and can be pallet jacked through standard doorways making it an excellent choice for home shop machining. The most important detail about this machine is that the factory IMT spindle has been upgraded to a much more durable Jager spindle (upgraded through Datron). The IMT spindle is a known weakness on the Neo so this is a very valuable upgrade. The machine includes many accessories which are pictured tooling, Vacucard, Adhesive Vacucard, workholding, etc. As well as the full vacuum table with pump. This Neo is powered up in my shop and is available for inspection and testing in New Berlin, WI. Machine is FOB New Berlin, WI. 7 Spindle Failures in 3380 machine hours. Full disclosure – I’m not pleased with Datron. We’ve used this machine nearly exclusively to machine small blind holes into cast aluminum plate. We’ve used Datron tooling, and we’ve run at speeds of 42K rpms (per their recommendations and well below their machine’s posted 60K high speed capabilities) with very little spindle load. Nonetheless, we’re on spindle number 8… You might have heard concerning stories about the cost and expense of a spindle repair. Datron doesn’t even make the spindle – Jaeger does. So, when a damaged spindle is sent back to Datron, Datron ends up playing middle-man between the customer and Jaeger. Then, when Jaeger tags the spindle failure with “bearing damage”, Datron simply shrugs their shoulders, points to the report, and passes the charge back to the customer. All we’ve done is operate this machine per Datron’s guidance. After 7 spindle failures, Datron finally recommended that we run the machine at 32K rpms. Why it cost us so much headache to finally obtain guidance from them is beyond me. Virtually brand new Datron M8 Cube. As you can see for the very low hours, we hardly used this except for very detailed milling on brass dies for our die cutting machine. We also used if for an aluminum promotional that we did which you can see still loaded on the bed of the machine. This machine is absolutely amazing and would highly benefit any machine shop.
